One of many trips that foolishly never had the story written. This Labor Day trip took place 01 September to 03 September. The captions were written at the time and will have to serve as guidance for the adventures had at the time.
Fortunately, though, there was an entry in the logbook at the Cabin. Parts of this are included below.
This Labor Day weekend, a big bunch of us had a lot of fun at the Cabin and on the beach in Grand Marais. Vittoria, Coach, Franki, Abby, Szodzi, and Dog arrived first on Thursday, followed by Jon, Amelia, and Teddy, who drove from Marquette (after flying up there on Wed.)
We had lots of delicious dinners and followed up DFB (dinner for breakfast) adding fried eggs to dinner or, in the case of our last meal here (Mon breakfast) making patties of our couscous and chickpea meal and frying them up with bacon!
Craig joined us late Friday night (like midnight!) followed by Gayle and Mike Majeski, who arrived Saturday afternoon.
We played on the warm beaches and swam in the balmy (really!) waters of Lake Superior and had picnic lunches at the park by the beach at the Bay.
We made use of 2 tents for sleeping, so Frankie and Teddy (and Vittoria) could sleep while the other played euchre at night.
By the way, Gayle and Amelia are ultimate euchre champs! (Gayle and Mike put their drive up to good use by planning their coded table talk. Watch out for them in the future!)
Mike and Coach went fishing in the Sucker River - no fish, but wet Coach, Mike, and Abby!
Everyon had to clear out early on Monday, and this has to be brief.
Great first trip to the Cabin for Edward Walter Katanski-O'Brien (aka Teddy) and we were also happy Mike Majeski could join us for the first time too.
